Is my building a heat network?

Answer up to seven questions. We'll tell you whether your building is likely to be in scope of Ofgem's heat network rules, who is likely to be the operator and the supplier, and what to do next. It takes about a minute.

Probably not a heat network

If each flat has its own boiler or heating and nothing is shared, your building is unlikely to be a heat network. A single system that supplies only hot water to several flats can still count, so check before you rule it out.

Your answers

  • Does one heating system provide heating or hot water to more than one flat in your building?

No, each flat has its own boiler or heating

This check is a guide based on the Heat Networks (Market Framework) (Great Britain) Regulations 2025 and Ofgem's heat networks registration guidance (January 2026). It is not legal advice.
